Minnie Mae Madsen

      CALDWELL - Minnie Mae Madsen, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, June 20, 2009.

      Minnie was born in Orofino Idaho, Jan. 27, 1921, the daughter of Jack and Marguerite James Hodge. She has four sisters and two brothers.

      Minnie met Odell Madsen in Orofino and married shortly after in Pocatello, recently celebrating 73 years together. They were sealed together in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is the mother of six children. Pocatello was their home. They developed a small horse ranch up Mink Creek Canyon, south of town, where they participated in horse shows throughout the area. She instructed English-style horseback riding. They moved to Nampa for the railroad in 1973. She was a member of the Nampa Art Guild, and enjoyed sewing, cooking, dancing and painting. She was loved and respected by all.

      She is survived by her husband, Odell J. Madsen; her five children, three boys, Jimmy (Pocatello, Idaho), Carl ( Idaho Falls, Idaho), and Eric (Caldwell, Idaho), two girls, Julie Myler (Meridian, Idaho), and Wendy Faler (Idaho Falls, Idaho). She has 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn Morris (Jackson Hole, Wyo.), who passed away on Nov. 23, 1979.

      As her family we are grateful to all the friends and many prayers offered on her behalf. We are extremely thankful for the loving care she received in her dwindling health.

      Our fondest memories will be presented at her viewing to be held at Dakan Funeral Chapel, 504 S. Kimball Ave., Wednesday, June 24 between 5 and 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25 at the LDS Chapel on Montana Avenue, Caldwell, Idaho. All are welcome.
